Web App Overview
The Academica web app is your central hub for managing assignments, tracking grades, and seeing which work matters most. This guide introduces you to the main features and navigation.
Main Pages#
Academica has three main pages, plus settings:

| Settings | Configure preferences and manage your account |
Navigation#
Sidebar#
The sidebar on the left side of the screen provides quick access to:
- Assignments - Your assignment data table
- Dashboard - Daily overview
- Priorities - Grade-impact ranked assignments
- Settings - App configuration
On mobile, tap the menu icon (☰) to open the sidebar.
Header#
The header shows:
- Current page title
- Your profile menu (top right)
- Quick actions
Assignments Page#
This is where you'll spend most of your time. The Assignments page shows all your assignments in a powerful data table.
Key features:
- Sort by due date, course, status, or grade
- Filter by course or status
- Add assignments manually
- Edit assignment details inline
- Import/export via CSV

Dashboard Page#
The Dashboard gives you a quick overview of your academic status.
What you'll see:
- Assignments due today and this week
- Your overall grade statistics
- Missing or late assignments
- Recent activity

Priorities Page#
The Priorities page shows your assignments ranked by grade impact, so you always know what to work on first.
What you'll see:
- Assignments ranked by how much they affect your grades
- Grade projections (if missed vs. if completed)
- Recovery options for missing work
- AI reasoning for each priority
Mobile Experience#
Academica works great on mobile devices:
- Responsive design adapts to any screen size
- Touch-friendly buttons and controls
- Swipe gestures for common actions
- Quick access to key information
On mobile, assignments display as cards instead of a table for easier reading.
Dark Mode#
Academica supports dark mode for comfortable viewing in low light:
- Click Settings in the sidebar
- Find the Theme option
- Choose Light, Dark, or System (matches your device)
Syncing Your Data#
Your assignments sync automatically through the Chrome extension from:
- Canvas LMS - Automatic sync as you browse Canvas
- Google Classroom - Connect once, then sync on-demand
Look for these indicators:
- Last synced timestamp in the extension popup
- Source badges on assignments (Canvas, Google Classroom, Manual, or CSV)
