Assignments
The Assignments page is your single source of truth for all assignments. Here you can view, sort, filter, and manage everything in one place.
Viewing Assignments#
When you open the Assignments page, you'll see a table with all your assignments. Each row shows:
| Column | Description |
|---|---|
| Title | Assignment name |
| Course | Which class it's for |
| Due Date | When it's due |
| Status | Current status (see below) |
| Grade | Your score (if graded) |
| Points | Points possible |
Understanding Statuses#
Assignments have different statuses based on your progress:
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Not Started | Assignment hasn't been submitted yet |
| Pending | Submitted but not yet graded |
| Graded | Teacher has assigned a grade |
| Missing | Past due with no submission and 0 points |
| Excused | Teacher excused you from this assignment |
Note: Statuses are determined by your grades in Canvas, not by Canvas badges.
Sorting Assignments#
Click any column header to sort by that column:
- Click once to sort ascending (A-Z, oldest first, lowest grade)
- Click again to sort descending (Z-A, newest first, highest grade)
- A small arrow indicates the current sort direction
Popular sorts:
- Due Date - See what's coming up next
- Status - Group missing assignments together
- Course - See all assignments for one class
