Quick Start Guide

Get up and running with Academica in just 3 minutes! Our unified sign-in means you only need to authenticate once.

Prerequisites#

Before you begin, make sure you have:

  • A Google Chrome browser (version 88 or later)
  • Access to Canvas LMS or Google Classroom through your school
  • An email address for account creation

Step 1: Install the Chrome Extension#

  1. Install the Academica extension from the Chrome Web Store
  2. Click "Add to Chrome" and confirm
  3. You'll see the Academica icon appear in your browser toolbar

Why start with the extension? With unified sign-in, you only need to create an account once - in the extension. The web app will automatically recognize you!

Step 2: Sign In via Extension#

  1. Click the Academica icon in your toolbar
  2. Click "Create Account" (or "Sign In" if you already have one)
  3. Enter your email and create a password
  4. That's it - you're authenticated everywhere!

Forgot your password? Click "Forgot Password?" to receive a reset link via email.

Step 3: Sync Your Assignments#

For Canvas LMS Users:#

  1. Navigate to your school's Canvas website
  2. Click the Academica icon again
  3. Click "Sync Canvas Data"
  4. Click "Dashboard" to view your assignments

For Google Classroom Users:#

  1. Click the Academica icon in your toolbar
  2. Click "Connect Google Classroom"
  3. Sign in with your school Google account
  4. Click "Sync Google Classroom"
  5. Click "Dashboard" to view your assignments

The Dashboard button automatically signs you into the web app - no second login required!

You're All Set!#

Once synced, you can:

  • View all assignments in one organized table
  • Track your grades as they're updated in Canvas
  • Create AI-powered study plans to manage your time
  • See your dashboard for a daily overview

What About the Web App?#

You can access the web app directly at academic-optimizer-app.vercel.app. If you signed in via the extension:

  • Click "Dashboard" in the extension to be automatically signed in
  • Or visit the web app directly and sign in with the same credentials
